A face mask covering should be worn whenever people are in a community setting, especially in situations where you may be near people. These settings include, work spaces, grocery stores and pharmacies. These face coverings are not a substitute for social distancing. Masks coverings are especially important to wear in public in areas of widespread COVID-19 illness.
Masks should not be placed on young children younger than 2 years of age, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cover without assistance.
To prevent the spread of the virus from people without symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone wear a mask in public places where it’s difficult to maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
This recommendation is in addition to continued social distancing and proper hygiene practices. Goldshield has a supply of medical grade surgical, N95 and cotton masks available for the general public.
Germs are everywhere! They can get onto hands and items we touch during daily activities and make us sick. Cleaning hands at key times with soap and water or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol is one of the most important steps you can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to those around you.
There are important differences between washing hands with soap and water and using hand sanitizer. Soap and water work to remove all types of germs from hands, while sanitizer acts by killing certain germs on the skin. Although alcohol-based hand sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of germs in many situations, they should be used in the right situations.
For the general public, CDC recommends wearing gloves when you are cleaning, caring for someone who is sick or for certain workplaces.
In most other situations, like running errands, wearing gloves is not necessary. Instead, practice everyday preventive actions like keeping social distance (at least 6 feet) from others, washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (or using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol), and wearing a face mask covering when you have to go out in public.
